Domaine Matteri changes its name and embarks on a transformation

Press Release

Acquired by the Micellium group, Domaine Matteri is changing its name and embarking on a transformation towards a bio-regenerative viticulture model in Provence.

Hyères, Thursday, 15 January 2026. – Taken over by the impact investment company Micellium, Domaine Matteri is undergoing a gradual transformation aimed at making the vineyard a benchmark for bio-regenerative viticulture in Provence.

Its roadmap is based on clear agronomic principles: restoring soil life, rebuilding water and carbon cycles, strengthening biodiversity, and implementing agroecological practices across the entire estate. The estate is simplifying its name, changing from Domaine Bouisse-Matteri to Domaine Matteri, its historic name.

Building a sustainable and replicable wine-growing model in Provence

Micellium, an impact investment company founded by Patrice Lucas, is committed to accelerating agricultural, ecological and territorial transitions. After two years of preparation and work with the selling family, Micellium finalised the acquisition of the estate in 2025.

This takeover opens a new chapter structured around a five-year transformation plan aimed at rethinking the sustainability of the estate's entire ecosystem: soils, vineyards, cultivation and winemaking practices, governance and knowledge transfer. The goal is to build a replicable agricultural model capable of inspiring other wine-growing operations facing climatic and environmental challenges.

A vineyard shaped by the richness of its terroirs and the diversity of its grape varieties

Located in five municipalities in the Var region — Hyères, Carqueiranne, La Crau, La Garde and La Farlède — near the Port-Cros National Park, the 50-hectare vineyard is distinguished by its remarkable diversity and geological richness (schist, chalk, clay-limestone, sandy-clay silt) and a collection of 25 grape varieties, including rare heritage varieties from Provence such as Tibouren, Rousseli and Mourvaison, and resistant varieties such as Sauvignac, which have been introduced in anticipation of climate change.

A carefully planned and controlled bio-regenerative conversion

Transforming the estate using a bio-regenerative approach involves making fundamental technical, human and financial choices: investing in the vineyard, adapting cultivation methods, training teams and accepting a transition phase before the agronomic benefits can be fully realised.

This approach is based on concrete and measurable commitments:

  • Renewal of the vineyard: one third of the plots replanted over seven years, with priority given to grape varieties of heritage interest.
  • Conversion to organic farming: 100% of the estate committed to converting to organic farming by 2025, with certification targeted within three years and the aim of obtaining Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC).
  • Research and innovation programmes: work carried out with the CIVP (Terre Apara and Solvivar programmes) on soil bio-regeneration, as well as experiments in winemaking (demi-muids, amphorae, ceramic eggs, ageing on lees).
  • Deployment of agro-ecological practices: compost, cover crops, hedges, wetlands, biocontrol, regenerative hydrology and crop diversification.
  • Preserved biodiversity: four-season fauna and flora inventory conducted with the Ecomed research consultancy to characterise natural habitats and their state of conservation.
A place of reference and transmission

This transformation has a direct impact on the profile of the wines. As the soils regain their vitality and the balance of the vineyard is strengthened, the wines of Domaine Matteri become more balanced and reflect the expression of the terroirs even more faithfully. They convey a contemporary Provence, fresher and more precise, without sacrificing Mediterranean generosity.

To carry out this project, the estate relies on a team of twelve employees – agricultural engineers, oenologists, technicians and craftsmen – and on leading partners: Agriterra, Terra Mea, Milpa, Burgundia, Ecomed and Alain Malard.

A return to the historical name ‘Matteri’

The simplification of the name to Domaine Matteri marks a return to the historic name of the place, affirming the estate's territorial roots and the continuity of its wine-growing history.

Patrice Lucas, founder of Micellium, states, ‘With Micellium, we support projects that combine environmental impact, operational excellence and territorial roots. Domaine Matteri aims to become a model of exemplary bio-regenerative viticulture, based on soil restoration and the preservation of living organisms, with a long-term vision and a focus on transmission.’
